Free Shakespeare in the Park Performances in Seattle

If you're in Seattle this summer and interested in FREE outdoors Shakespeare performances from now until mid August, read on!

Here's the low-down:

1. This weekend (Saturday and Sunday): July 11 and 12, there is going to be a Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival at Volunteer Park. For more information such as times of performances: http://www.greenstage.org/sotf

Seattle Symphony Campus Club-Free Student Discounts!

If you're into classical or instrumental music or going to the Seattle Symphony for a nice evening, I highly recommend getting a free membership into the Seattle Symphony's Campus Club. It's completely free for students and you can get discounted tickets on the evening of the performance for $10 (best seats they have available). Also, after your 4th concert, your 5th one is free! They will email you during the week regarding any concerts in which the $10 tickets apply, and sometimes, the tickets are buy one, get one, or free so you get an evening of lovely music for as low as $5, or even free!

I've gone before and we had some of the best seats in the house. You just need to mail (or fax) in a form from the following website. You don't have to be a student from Washington state so if you have friends with student IDs elsewhere, it still qualifies.

Inspiration behind blog

I was inspired to create this blog after the suggestion of my friend Sara while dining at University Teriyaki (best teriyaki place in the U-District). I'm currently a graduate student at the Evans School of Public Affairs and Environmental Health at University of Washington. I'm very involved in student government at the Evans School. Whenever I come across a really neat arts, cultural, or food events in Seattle, especially those with student discounts, I mass email our Student Listserve. This blog will allow me to move away from mass-emailing our entire graduate program (pretty large for a graduate program!).

This blog will be a great resource for anyone interested in interesting arts, cultural, and food events in Seattle, especially those on a student budget or looking for discounts! :)
